Group planning / Players
Can you play Big Walk solo?
There is no single-player mode. You can explore briefly alone, but progression is designed around cooperation. The supported group is 2–12 players.
What the official guidance confirms
- Minimum: 2 players. Maximum: 12.
- The host selects a 2, 3 or 4+ player world; this adjusts challenges rather than the room limit.
- There is no automatic matchmaking.
Two friends, three friends, or a larger group?
Our planning advice: choose the group you can actually gather, rather than waiting for a perfect number. Ask who can stay for the full session and who might need to leave early. Set expectations before the host starts, especially if one person only has a short break to play.
In a pair, make a habit of describing what each of you sees. In a larger group, let one person finish explaining an observation before everyone tries a different idea. These are communication suggestions, not additional game rules.
What if nobody else is online?
Arrange a time with another player before buying for a solo evening. If you find a group through a community, agree on language, approximate session length and spoiler preferences first. Keep private join details within that group.
Write down who will host and how you will contact them for the next session. For the actual save behavior, read the hosting guide; for playing on different systems, read crossplay.
Do not confuse player count with split screen
“Two-player game” describes the size of the group, not how many people share a screen. Check the local co-op guide before planning a one-console game night.
