Big Walk beginner guide: take the first step together

Prepare the group before opening a walkthrough. This guide takes you from deciding who will play to keeping track of your first shared discoveries.

Pack these essentials

  • Agree on your group and a time everyone can return.
  • Choose the host before starting a save.
  • Keep the join code and session password within your group.

1. Choose the group and check platforms

Ask each player which device they will use, whether they have installed the game and when they expect to finish. Resolve solo-play and shared-screen expectations before the first purchase. Start with our player-count and platform pages if anyone is unsure.

2. Let the host load first

Use a person who can return for later sessions. Have them open the save and enter the world before others try to join. The join-code guide explains where to find the code and how to check a failed connection. Since version 1.4.9, session passwords are required; version 1.6.0 adds letters to Join Codes.

3. Agree on a spoiler boundary

Our recommendation: describe what you see before announcing an answer. If somebody already knows a solution, ask them to offer a question or a small nudge instead. Decide together when it is time to open more help.

Try the communication setup early. If someone is hard to hear everywhere, troubleshoot before the group reaches a challenge.

4. Leave a note for next time

Before stopping, record your host, last landmark and next experiment. Avoid copying a full solution into a group message if some players have not seen it. A short shared note can preserve the excitement while making the next session easier to start.
